How many hours of CPD do I need?
Short answerThe Board requires 100 CPD hours across a rolling three practising years. There is no annual minimum, so a quiet year can be balanced by a busier one, but hours are pro-rated if you have not held an APC for the full period. Specialist and advanced practice physiotherapists must put half their hours into their nominated area.
What counts as CPD?
Short answerHours alone are not enough. Every practising year you must complete a Professional Development Plan on the Board's template, signed by a professional peer, undergo a peer review, and write three reflections: one on Māori culture and practice, two on cultural, ethical or professional themes.
What happens if I'm audited?
Short answerEach year around 5% of APC holders are randomly selected and notified by email. You submit your Recertification Record, reflections and CPD evidence for the previous practising year. Failing to submit, or submitting below standard, means referral to the Board; outcomes range from a competence review to conditions on practice or suspension.
When is the deadline?
Short answerThe practising year runs 1 April to 31 March, matching your Annual Practising Certificate. Recertification evidence for an audit covers the previous practising year, with CPD allowed to span the rolling three-year window. Build your PDP at the start of April and close it out before 31 March.
