The rule in one sentence

How many CPD credits do I need?
Short answerCORU requires a minimum of 30 CPD credits in every 12-month period, where one credit equals one hour of new or enhanced learning. Boards on a 24-month audit cycle need 60 credits across the period, with at least 30 in each year. Surplus credits cannot be carried forward into the next period.
What counts as CPD?
Short answerCORU does not prescribe activity types; the audit assesses the record, not the quality of activities chosen. Your record must show four things: learning activities that achieved new or enhanced learning, evaluation and reflection on that learning, a review of learning needs for the next 12 months, and planned activities for the next 12 months.
What happens if I'm audited?
Short answerYou are notified and have 30 working days to submit your CPD record (or a deferral request) through your registrant profile. Only activity inside the audit period counts. The outcome is compliant, non-compliant or non-engagement; a missed deadline triggers a non-submission notice with 10 further working days.
CORU's own CPD record template (Word).
When is the deadline?
Short answerThere is no single national date. Each Registration Board publishes its own audit period and audit date, for example 1 November 2026 for dietitians, radiographers and speech and language therapists, 1 December 2026 for social care workers, and 1 April 2027 for occupational therapists. Separately, you declare CPD engagement at every annual renewal.
| Registration Board | Audit date |
|---|---|
| Dietitians, radiographers, speech and language therapists | 1 November 2026 |
| Social care workers | 1 December 2026 |
| Occupational therapists | 1 April 2027 |
Other boards use 1 April, 1 June, 1 October, 1 November or 1 December. Check your own board's page.
